What it is
Counselling with Mollie is the counselling arm of Jala Yoga & Counselling Pty Ltd. Mollie Cox provides trauma-informed, neuro-affirming counselling for adults (16+), with a specialisation in neurodivergent clients — autistic adults, ADHDers, and AuDHD adults. As an AuDHD practitioner herself, Mollie brings both clinical training and lived experience. The practice is client-led and whole-person: clients are treated as the experts in their own experience, and sessions are adapted to each nervous system (no forced eye contact; fidgets, weighted blankets, movement, and silence are all welcome).
Who it supports
Adults (16+) navigating:
- Neurodivergence — autism, ADHD, AuDHD, including post-diagnosis identity work and navigating a world not designed for your nervous system
- Grief and loss — death, dying, bereavement, relationship and friendship loss, career loss, anticipatory and ambiguous grief
- Burnout — including autistic burnout, masking fatigue, sensory overload, carer and compassion fatigue
- Anxiety, depression, overwhelm, shutdown, emotional flatness or numbness
- Trauma and its impact on daily functioning
- Life transitions and identity shifts (new parents, career changes, diagnosis)
- Self-worth, self-acceptance, self-compassion, and resilience
- First responders and their families
- Death and dying support for individuals and their families/carers
Approach and modalities
Trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, strengths-based, and somatically oriented. Mollie draws from evidence-based modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. Her work is also informed by her current Somatic Experiencing practitioner training, postgraduate study in mental health and neuroscience, yoga therapy, polyvagal theory, and self-compassion-focused practice. She collaborates with clients' broader allied health teams, because collaborative care matters when working with the whole person.
