WANNA HELP SAVE THE REEF IN 2 MINUTES?!
WE NEED YOU TO EMAIL YOUR MP + EXPRESS YOUR OPPOSITION TO THE QLD GOVERNMENT + THE NORTHERN INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITY GIVING ADANI $1 BILLION OF OUR TAX DOLLARS !
Adani is pulling out desperate moves to secure the $1 billion of our money.
Last week Adani gave themselves the tick of approval to commence construction on the Carmichael Mine - but only if they get their hands on the $1 billion dollar NAIF loan from the Queensland and federal governments.
Adani still hasn’t been able to secure finance for the mine, making it evident that they need OUR money to continue.
If we stop the $1 billion handout, WE CAN STOP THE MINE.
We need to let our representatives in parliament know that we think this mine will be an economical and environmental disaster.
Adani’s Carmichael mine would undoubtedly have catastrophic global consequences for a safe climateand also devastating effects to the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland tourism, the farmers and the traditional landowners of the Galilee Basin. We must prevent this foreseeable disaster.

MOCK LETTER YOU CAN USE BELOW -
Dear (insert their full name here) MP,
I am a local resident in your electorate and I am deeply concerned about our Great Barrier Reef and the impacts that Adani’s Carmichael coal mine, rail link and expansion of Abbot Point will have on Australia and the rest of the world.
The mine will undoubtedly have catastrophic impacts on the Great Barrier Reef, the Queensland tourism industry, the farmers and the traditional landowners of the Galilee Basin; the Wangan and Jagalingou people. Furthermore, the burning of the mines’ over its lifespan will take the world in the wrong direction to meet the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to well below 2 degrees.
I am (describe yourself and mention any community roles or experiences that shows you are in touch with the local community eg sports associations, surf club, community groups).
Adani wants a $1 billion taxpayer loan to fund the Carmichael mine. I do not want our money going towards this mine. I believe the $1 billion should be invested in (insert your preference: ie renewable energy).
I am concerned that at present your government is not representing what the broader community wants to see - that is for Australia to be a world leader in response to climate change.
As my representative in parliament, I would like to ask you (insert MP’s name) to listen to what your constituents want and represent our voices accordingly. On behalf of my community, we do not want the Carmichael mine and we certainly do not want $1 billion of our money to be handed over to Adani.
